Why these heritage hotels matter

These properties are more than luxurious stays — they are living museums that preserve architecture, craftsmanship and cultural heritage:

  • Restoration projects often involve specialists in heritage conservation (e.g., local artisans, heritage architects) to revive intricate stonework, frescoes, and original layouts.
  • Many are converted from palaces, forts or mansions that once belonged to maharajas, nawabs or aristocratic families.
  • Guests get curated experiences such as heritage tours, traditional cuisine, cultural performances and craft demonstrations alongside luxurious comfort.
