Intro: Square Foot Story visited The Knowledge Center in Gurugram to find out what they have in store for architects, designers, and homeowners under one roof. Here is our assessment of the facility that offers nearly 6,200 categories. Take a dig.

Why we visited the Knowledge Center

Behind every beautiful finished home, there is always a backstory. A story that every homeowner remembers when the home is done. Weekends are packed to look out for products at 15 different shops, and decisions are made on the strength of a single sample square in poor lighting.

Hence, the story of the Knowledge Center begins from here. We visited this beautifully curated place in Sector 71, Gurugram, to understand whether the design and construction industry finally has one umbrella under which every homeowner, architect, and designer can meet.

First look

The spaces announces itself quietly. The place is scattered in 1,00,000 square feet area across two floors. But it does not feel like a warehouse. The material library is curated and not cluttered. Tiles, plywood, sanitaryware, paint, hardware, fabric, each category has its own zone, its own lighting, its own breathing room. Nothing is being sold to you on the floor. Everything is to be viewed and experienced. That distinction is the new whole point.

Walking the Floor

Walk your plan & decide

Sachin Bansal, Co-Founder, Knowledge Center, walked us through the Knowledge Center. He informed us that the library currently holds 120 brand samples across 6,200 categories, with more being added every week. There is a 1:1 scale plan facility where you can stand inside the actual dimensions of your future room. A rendering zone helps you understand how designers have built realistic 3D project visuals on the spot. Catalogues, co-working desks, meeting rooms, networking cafe, and dedicated work spaces for women and working parents are some of the other highlights of the place, written into the layout and not bolted on.

Problem Solver-How?

The construction industry has been running on fragmented workflows for decades. Scattered vendors, opaque pricing, and designer-vendor relationships that homeowner never sees. KC’s no commission model breaks that quietly. Brands pay for shelf space and exposure, not transactions. A small ceramic wall cooperative from Karnataka shares the same treatment as a multi-crore plywood giant. The homeowner is finally in the room where the decisions are made fairly.

What stood out

Texture Categories at KC
Texture Categories at KC
  • 6,200 material categories under one roof are available
  • 1:1 scale plan facility that lets you see inside your future home before the brick is laid
  • AI-powered material discovery. You can bring the photograph of the material or the place, and find the exact material at KC.
  • 750 characters and designers are already registered with KC, and 500-plus brands are onboarded.
  • Equal visibility for artisans and national brands. There is no pay parity between them.

Who is this for

Homeowners, Architects & Designers under one roof at KC
Homeowners, Architects & Designers under one roof at KC
  • Homeowners who want to be a part of their own material decisions.
  • Architects and Interior Designers tired of running between the vendors.
  • Brands and artisans seeking direct access to specifires.
  • Anyone building, renovating, or fitting out a home or office in Delhi NCR.

SFS Verdict

The knowledge center does not try to replace your architect, your designer, or your contractor. It simply brings all of them and you under one roof. This is not about a bigger store, it is more about bringing transparency, fair deals, and simplifying your ideas into solutions.

SFS Rating ⭐⭐⭐⭐ ½

Half a star is held back only until the next 149 stores open and we see whether the model scales the way Gurugram does.
